FAQ & Profile Tips

Everything you need to complete your profile, get found, and manage your Mativa listing.

Profile

How do I publish my profile?

Complete your profile, then publish it with the Publish my profile button on your dashboard whenever you’re ready. The Profile Completion checklist shows exactly what’s left.

Can I edit my profile after it’s published?

Yes. Go to Edit Profile from your dashboard. Changes to your bio, photo, specialties, session details, and other profile information appear on your live profile as soon as you save them.

What should I include in my bio?

Aim for 200 to 300 words. Focus on who you help, the concerns you specialize in, how you work, and what clients can expect from working with you. Write warmly and directly, and avoid overly clinical language or simply listing your credentials.

What makes a strong profile?

Be specific. Choose your specialties and stages carefully, use a current professional photo, describe your approach in plain language, and make sure your session format and booking link are accurate.

Your Photo

Choose an image that feels warm, professional, and approachable.

Keep it current

Use a recent color photo of just you with a relaxed, warm expression. Avoid black-and-white photos. Upload a sharp, unfiltered JPG at least 1200 × 1500 pixels.

Frame

Use a vertical photo with your head centered in the frame, from head and shoulders to mid-torso.

Light

Use a well-lit photo with soft, natural light.

Background

Choose a simple, uncluttered, neutral background.

What to wear

Choose simple, solid colors in soft or muted tones.

Optional: AI styling promptFor polishing a real photo you already have.

One rule: the photo must actually be you. Clients will meet you on video within days of finding your profile, and recognizing you instantly is part of the trust Mativa is built on. Use the prompt to polish a real photo, never to generate one.

Use my attached photo. Keep my face, facial features, skin texture, skin tone, hair, age, and proportions exactly as they are. Do not change my identity or invent a new person. Restyle everything else into an editorial portrait: soft slate blue or muted olive linen top, seated at a slight angle near a window in a clean modern home office, warm neutral wall with a small stack of books softly blurred behind, natural window light on my face, gentle warm smile, slightly off-camera gaze, warm neutral tones, soft bokeh, boutique wellness aesthetic, subtle film grain, 85mm lens look, vertical 4:5 crop, minimum 1200 by 1500 pixels. The result must still look like a real photograph of me, not an illustration or a smoothed AI face.

Getting Found

How do clients find me?

Clients can find you through Mativa’s filters, browse pages, and Google. Your specialties, stages, therapeutic approach, session format, and location help determine where you appear.

How can I improve my visibility?

Keep your profile complete and your specialties and stages accurate. If you are accepting new clients, keep your Accepting New Clients status turned on. Your profile should clearly reflect the clients you want to reach.

What do my dashboard numbers mean?

Search impressions show how often your profile appeared in search results.

Profile views show how many people opened your profile.

Website clicks show how many people clicked your booking link.

Your own visits are not counted.

Managing Your Listing

What if I’m not accepting new clients?

Select Not Accepting New Clients to let clients know you are not currently accepting new clients. You can also turn on Pause Listing from your dashboard to hide your profile from the directory. Your profile information and stats are saved, and you can turn your listing back on when you have availability.

How does Mativa verify therapists?

Mativa verifies your license with the appropriate state board and confirms applicable perinatal certifications. Your profile can be live while verification is being completed. Once verified, a verification badge appears on your profile.

How does billing work?

Your Mativa membership is managed through your dashboard. Payment is securely processed through Stripe, and receipts are sent by email.

What happens if my payment fails?

Your listing remains active during the payment grace period while the charge is retried. You’ll receive an email if you need to update your payment information. If payment is not resolved, your listing will be paused, but your profile information is preserved.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You can cancel at any time. Your listing remains live through the end of your paid period and is then hidden from the directory. Your profile information is retained so you can return later.
